Course Content
The course follows the official IOSH Managing Safely syllabus across seven modules:
- Introducing Managing Safely — Why managing safely matters, and where your responsibilities as a manager begin.
- Assessing Risks — How to carry out practical risk assessments and record them properly.
- Controlling Risks — Choosing the right controls to reduce risk to an acceptable level.
- Understanding Responsibilities — The legal framework, and what the law expects of you and your organisation.
- Understanding Hazards — The common workplace hazards, from fire and electricity to hazardous substances and working at height.
- Investigating Incidents — How to investigate accidents and near misses so they do not happen again.
- Measuring Performance — How to check, audit and continually improve your health and safety performance.
Assessment and Certification
The course is assessed in two parts: a multiple-choice examination covering the full syllabus, and a practical assessment where you carry out a work-based risk assessment to show you can apply what you have learnt. You can resit each module up to three times if you need to.
Once you pass, IOSH issues your official IOSH Managing Safely digital certificate, normally within two to three weeks of completion. The certificate has no expiry date, and it is the same qualification employers ask for across every industry.
Your course registration fee and IOSH certificate are fully included in the price. There is nothing extra to pay.

Do I need any prior qualifications?
No. Managing Safely assumes no previous health and safety training. It is designed to take a manager from first principles through to a recognised qualification.
